Prisma – International Contemporary Dance Festival of Panama hosted Adriano Bolognino from October 13 to 17, 2024, to conduct a training workshop with local artists on the content and creation processes of the choreographer.

“The experience in Panama was truly extraordinary, a precious moment for the entire team, characterized by a strong sense of unity and continuity. The festival was impeccably organized, and the warm welcome from the local team was always available for our every need.

We had the opportunity to share energy with local dancers, both freelancers and members of the National Company. The energy of the people was something surprising, completely different from what we are used to. This experience enriched us with a vitality we had never received before, also changing the way we see the work we’ve built over the past few years. Sharing it with such vibrant individuals gave us a new creative drive.

The city of Panama is truly unique, marked by a strong contrast between areas of American influence and those that are less modern. Walking through the streets, we could see dilapidated, roofless houses on one side and luxurious buildings with perfectly manicured gardens on the other. It was a surreal experience. We were told that less than five years ago, in areas where there are now huge skyscrapers, there was still sea. This rapid urban development deeply impressed us.

During our stay, we also met with local indigenous communities, five groups that still preserve their artisanal traditions, creating extraordinary handmade works.

The performance was a success! The audience was full and welcomed us with incredible warmth.

We want to sincerely thank you: without the support of Crossing the Sea, we would never have been able to bring our work to Panama.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!”
